CBR is a volunteer run, 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving North and South Carolina. Our Boxers come to us from shelters, humane societies and directly from owners. They enter into volunteer foster homes throughout both states and live indoors with the foster family and other pets. Each Boxer receives a complete physical, immunizations, sterilization, heartworm test and treatment for any illnesses or diseases. We evaluate temperament to ensure that each Boxer we rescue will make a good family pet. These evaluations are achieved through living with the dog and watching him/her interact with children, adults and other pets. All of our Boxers are tested for aggression issues and any other behavior problems. Each dog learns basic house manners and is crate and house trained. We do not accept nor place dogs with known human aggression issues. Camden is a returning CBR foster & as an active young boxer boy will need a family that has a ton of patience, lots of energy, & a love of consistency. You see Camden's biggest problem isn't being Deaf. He struggles being a HIGH energy, young fellow who is still learning about manners. Camden is housebroken & Loves walks. He is still learning how to control his 70 lb body & all his energy makes him a bit clumsy. He can go from lounging to leaping & running in seconds so he is not recommended around small children that can be easy knocked over. He has a puppy length attention span especially if he sees something outside that might need investigating. While he is not dog aggressive, his high energy & desperate desire to PLAY has triggered some tense moments with dominate female dogs. Camden is learning about human vs dog food, so don't leave a plate unattended or you might need to make a new sandwich. He has not been destructive to household items & if he happens to find a shoe he'll stop tossing it around & trade for a more appropriate toy. He Loves Kongs, rawhides, & other treats! Camden is deaf. Each deaf dog is a bit different but the main things we have found with Camden are: No voice commands everything must be communicated by hand signals & he is still learning those. No easy recall- fenced yard to run around in is a must! He's great on leash but some free run time is needed too. Kennel trained- will whine for a few minutes & then settle in. Loud noises are not a problem but shadows are questionable. Sleeps right through storms. As an experienced deaf dog mom don't hesitate to ask me questions or check out the many great resources available. Camden is a clown. He has every great quality a boxer boy should possess. He is silly, snuggly, playful, & adores his family. As a deaf dog & a boxer he has earned the nickname "double velcro" because he is clingy. He wants to be with you & "help" with any project. Camden's ideal match will be a strong pack leader. He needs someone who is calm, clear & consistent to help him become the fine gentleman boxer he can be. He can be a sweet, cuddle bug but must be able to vent all his excess energy daily or he can be a handful. So an walk/run or active playtime 2x daily are a must! Small children, small dogs, cats or dominant female dogs are not recommended. During the processing phase, all references will be checked including vet and landlord (if renting). As long as there are no negative references and the application does not contain any information contradictory to our policy, a homevisit will then be scheduled. After the homevisit, the applicant is either approved to adopt, approved with contingencies or denied. At this point, we begin the process of matching your family with one of our boxers. Our standard adoption fee is $250.00. Mixes may be less and puppies may be more.
